How far north do I need to go for natural skiing Saint Patrick’s weekend?

How far north do I need to go to put my kids on some natural snow and fun woods skiing this weekend? Indy Pass. Our original plan was to go to Bolton Valley but we might not be able to get that far. Middlebury? How about magic and Bromley? How are things at Berkshire East? Website says glades are closed and webcams are no help. Anything south of Berkshire East is bare.

Thanks.

I don't know but Jay was great two weeks ago. Absolutely buried. Probably best Indy bet if you want nats. I'm planning on hitting Cannon this weekend. Looks like lots of snow was lost everywhere last few days.

SoVT still has natural terrain especially higher terrain. For instance bromley has all of their natural trials open, and all but 2 woods areas are open. Magic looks to have all green and blue trails open too, and I would assume adjacent woods. Steeper stuff more questionable. The steep 6 are closed.

I'd look carefully at snow reports. A lot of New England, at least as far north as Sugarloaf, got warm temps and some rain earlier in the week. It has cooled off since, so most natural terrain probably got wet and is now locked up hard. If it's not groomed, I think you're going to need either a corn cycle or more snow to get good skiing.

I'm wondering if there will be a sweet spot in central NE where there's still good enough natural to have some base, but will be warm enough to soften up this weekend.

I'd love to go to Magic on Saturday. Anyone have intel on whether there's enough snow to reopen the nats when it warms up enough? If not then maybe would just stick to Mt Snow or Okemo especially since they both have good south facing areas. Wouldn't hate lapping Beartrap for a few hours if it warms up.

No expert but thoughts on wind this weekend - looks to possibly be problematic but I have no clue except what I see on some apps. Heading up to Bolton and Jay skiing Sat, Sun and Mon

One factor I read from one of the NBC Mets out of Burlington who is a big skier, is unlike with the warmth earlier this week where the humidity was low, the warm temps earlier this week, the dew points will be in the mid to upper 50's this weekend, and that added humidity will likely "eat" more of the snowpack this weekend than the dryer air earlier this week.. 🥺🥺

Jay forecast looks bad Sun/Mon. Sat warm, but dry = spring skiing

Yea - I'm gonna head up there tomorrow anyhow. Indy holder with my 2 days at Bolton/Jay still here

Going to ski one of them on Sat and decide what to do on Sunday as visibility could be an issue along with winds. No clue what apps are the most accurate but it seems rain might hold off until Sunday late afternoon/evening but time to ski ie schedule and the warm weather outlook - season might be coming to a close for me sooner thn I thought

Wild how awesome the past 3 months have been and what March has brought us but you can't control Mother Nature

Per my reply above - higher humidity with the warmth impacts visibility right?

There is plenty of coverage at most places north of Killngton. Warm and nice Friday and Saturday with spring skiing. I will be at MRG probably Friday or Saturday. Sunday and Monday are not looking good.

Yup, thinking at Sunday and Monday for some turns for me will have a return appearance from my most waterproof gear, and considering that on the days I've skied this season, the last time I needed that gear was just before New Years, I really can't complain as often that gear gets used a few times a season over the 10 or so weeks it's been since I last wore that gear!

Catamount had no snow at all off snowmaking routes last weekend

Windham had token snow for appearances off of snowmaking routes

There is no “natural skiing” south of Vermont

Yea I skied Greek last weekend - snow in the woods but closed off and not skiable. Assuming trails closed that had snow but thin were all natural

National Weather service is saying showers in the morning with full on r#$% after 2pm. its the mountains so you never really know. I am going to get up, look out my window and make the call after eggs and Bakey.

I have spent entire stormy days skiing in the out-of-bounds side country to skiers right of Timbuktu. Decent protection from the winds but watch for widow makers!

We are heading up to Tremblant for a week on Sunday. I expect some spring skiing and a mix of frozen granular and frozen coral reef. We'll have fun though!
