Belleayre is my favorite in the Catskills..Friendly atmosphere..high speed quad..nice upper mountain steeps, woods, moguls..and less of a zoo than Hunter and Windham. I've never skied Plattekill..but I know it's a farther drive than Belleayre..

Given your criteri, recent snow coverage, I would think this weekend is a perfect time to hit Plattekill. Be prepared for thin cover. Although with the last few snowfall, Plattekill should have good cover. Plattekill is ungroomed and untamed. You will like it.

Actually Plattekill has some nice groomed trails and some nice intermediates as well. It also has a large number of trails the way you lke it.

Plattekill is your answer. GREAT conditons today 3/1 & small crowd- couple hundred compared w/ the thousands at the "others"- lift lines? No such thing. Very biased as it's our home mtn., but there were smiles all over today.

Plattekill was great last weekend, and the new snow must be great. Belleayre was really nice today too though, I think you'll get your money's worth anywhere.

Looking at the weather forecast for this week (thinking about a weekday to take off to hit Hunter), with rain and icy mixes coming, I'm feeling pessimistic that there's ever going to be any real snowpack in the Catskills for the trees this winter...

I'm sure most of the natural snow in the Catskills will melt this week but then we could get more snowfall..the last three weeks of March into April..the forecast could change as well.
