This Sucks.

Baskan, Russia - Terrorists blew up a ski lift in the Caucasus ski resort of Baskan near Mt. Elbrus Friday evening a few hours after attacking a nearby minibus full of tourists, killing three Russian skiers and wounding three others.

Hours earlier, camouflage-clad gunmen ambushed a van transporting tourists from the airport to the ski area, forcing it to the side of the road near the village of Zayukovo. After questioning the passengers they opened fire, killing two on the spot and sending four to the hospital, where one later died. All of the victims were from the Moscow area.

Officials confirmed that one of the lift towers were damaged, but no one was hurt in the ski area attack.

The Caucasus region is under siege by both Islamic militants and criminal gangs, which stage almost daily attacks. Friday's violence casts a shadow on both the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, set to be staged in Sochi, and foreign investment in Russian President Dimitry Medvedev's $15 billion plan to develop five new ski resorts in the region.

Sorry, perhaps I'm the only one who felt this thread is a bit insensitive.

I'm not Russian. But I work with quite a few of them. Yes, some do ski even back in Russia. They're just trying to live a more or less normal life like us here. What happen to the Russian tourist is very sad.

A friend of mine was travelling in China on 9/11/2001 and heard a similar comment, right after the twin tower collaps was shown on TV. The locals were cracking jokes about the twin tower while watching its collaps on TV being shown over and over again. It's something that happen to "other people", and they found it entertaining!:(

Wow. That is random and odd.

"...random and odd...?" That the OP posted this without answering the questions posed in another thread? I'll agree with that.

"Random and odd" for other reasons? I'll agree with that as well.

Don't be so sensitive then, I find nothing insensitive about this. Bill was stating the obvious with the headline and then the rest was a quote from a news article.

If this is too sensitive then this politically correctness crap has hit an all time high in my opinion.
