After the open heart surgery 2.5 yrs ago, i had quick recovery but lately been experiencing big time aches in right side and back ,

I Did physical exams twice yearly and other tests and metrics were fine . Did PT and cardiac rehab and have continued gym workouts 3/4 times a week since .

This Monday had the muscle group "stripped" of " muscle fibre that felt like an overcooked steak but still no resolution. Still waking up from a sound sleep by the severe aching

THEN yesterday I break out on my right chest and back on the right side and nerve pain in the chest armpit and shoulder pain ---------------Yep friggin SHINGLES -- damn chit is painful AND to make matters worse i had the damn Shingles Vaccine shot last fall-- go figure . Hopefullly this will ease the burden somewhat

So i'm on injured reserve for this crap and a strained my achilles again from overuse on ellypticals and nusteps and stairmasters and the other gym rat stuff 3/4 times a week.

Sure hope this crap moves on WITHOUT permanent nerve pain that sometimes happens after the rash subsides . What is of concern is that these symptoms has been going on for a year or so all the time i'm thinking its classic overuse syndrome cuz there was no friggin rash ,

OH well at least im STILL on the "right side of the grass" and sitting here typing this chit with my ski boots on Gotta stay positive :D

Damn that stinks. My dad had the shingles a couple years ago and seem to have recovered fine (he's 80). So hopefully you'll be back on your feet soon!

Hope you bounce back soon. I can't stand being on the D.L., especially on the verge of the season. I know several people who've had it over the past few years-- from teenager to senior citizen, it inflicts its pain indiscriminately. Which reminds me-- I need to get a vaccination.

Thanks guys one and all for the kind words -- i 'm a tough old bird and will not let this crap beat me if the pain continues later i'll still ski dammit :D

Its more like an achy PIA and frankly i was glad the aches weren't heart related just nerve endings acting up because of this crap. Altho ican't keep up with you YOUNG GUNS in the bumps or trees , i still plan to rip the frontside and some pow pretty fair for an ole fart:D

Shingles is a royal pain! (Both literally and figuratively! ;) ) That re-emergence of the Chicken Pox virus that causes shingles can be a real persistant one for sure. The good thing is Warp is that once it finally goes dormant again in that nerve branch that its in (there's been some great debate in the world of infectious diseases over the years if the chicken pox virus really actually goes 100% away after a childhood exposure or if it just goes into a prolonged state of dormancy in the nerve branches just waiting to one day "wake back up" for no real apparent good reason

With the positive vibes you've got there Warp, you'll be tearing up the slopes, pain free this season I'm sure!!

Thanks guys ! rash is slowly getting smaller and does not itch BUT the pain factor is still there and is migrating to the right side of my head and eye ( no lesions at all just referred ache ). Nasty chit but we're out everyday doing long power walks .

Heading for a ski swap today and we're picking up our FREE season passes ( with reciprocals at 3 other areas), followed by more shopping , then out to dinner tonite at our fav place for a little Linguine n' red clam sauce w/vino !! Queen's BD tomorrow so i also got her a season pass for Indoor tennis that 's good till June 30 and a modest bit o' bling :>) -- gotta build up those "guy points" for my Tremblant trips with the "RED" group

Exactly man! ...And think positive...this should enable some prescriptions for some strong meds or maybe one for a little grass...;-) Good powder doesn't come till after the New Year...you've got plenty of time Warp....

Don't know what else to add except, speedy (and complete) recovery!

Typing with boots on. I'm close to doing that....but these warmer temps are keeping he kit bag in the closet still. Soon.
