As my Droid continues to die a slow, painful death, I have been following the tech world closely. As Android continues to develop and news of the IPhone 5 quiet, (save rumors) I am growing unsure of what to do.
The screens I have seen of iOS 5 look good, but do you think it is already stale compared to Android? (2.3 +)
I've got a Samsung Focus with AT&T, Verizon hadn't started carrying WP7 yet when I got it (and apparently, good luck trying to get a salesperson to talk to you about a WP7 phone instead of forcing you to look at Android or iPhone; wouldn't be surprised if it's the same with Palm/HP.)
There should be a better selection coming out this fall along with the software update, across all carriers.
I think you need to decide what you want. Apple likes to take big steps so you get OS releases once a year or so. It makes it very stable and user friendly. If you want to be out in the wild and have the latest thing when it comes up (and any bugs along with it) Android might be more for you.
iPhone will likely be out in September. If you can hold out, I'd wait and see what they come up with.
The lack of support for landscape bugged me a lot for a week or two, then you get to know the phone well enough and realize how well most everything works in portrait that you don't miss it too much. The one gap that still bugs me is the lack of an address bar in the browser in landscape, but this will be coming with Mango, so no worries there.I had this exact experience a few days ago at Sprint, who I've been with for years. All they have for WP7 is the Arrive; solid phone, but this salesperson only wanted to talk about Android, the Evo 3D in particular.
I liked the feel of WP7 though. Unfortunately, the Arrive doesn't support certain functions in landscape mode, which I felt was half-assed and I have a feeling they'll fix that with future phones or Mango.
Glenn you shouldn't be surprised, this is the way it always is with Apple devices. Rumors often contradicting one another, faked pictures showing up, sometimes they are real but it's impossible to tell with all the other noise. Apple is notoriously secret and it helps build the excitement, so don't expect to know what it will be before they announce it. Unless of course some poor employee drops his test model in a bar again ...

Nice find Loaf! Gives a little more of an idea regarding a release date.
Jeff...LOL! I kinda like "iLoaf" myself.
