A-Basin started making snow. I bet Keystone did too (didn't check).

Lets use this thread to post pics of snowmaking start up and openings.

The BW pic doesn’t look like snow either, but there was a window of an hour or so last Thursday night, so…Regardless, seems like a waste of money and water. Killington doesn’t even have guns set up on North Ridge yet. Overall, the extended forecast for the NE doesn’t look promising for an October opening. The later it goes, the more likely it is that a dark horse will emerge. Ironically, some rain to fill the rivers, streams, and snow making ponds would be helpful, but I’ll settle for snow if I have to, sigh. /s

Might be some high elevation opportunities before hand, but first week of November is starting to show some serious opportunities for cold.

The plot thickens. Per the Euro soundings at So VT regional airport, temps at 3,000' go below freezing Friday 7am through the end of the model run, which is 8pm Monday, and certainly will continue into Tuesday morning. By Fri 9pm freezing is at 2,500'. By Monday am freezing at all elevations. I don't have the raw data, so I can't tell when the WB hits 28 (assuming 28 is the right level) and how long it stays there. And of course, just because they CAN make snow doesn't mean they WILL.

Its also just one model, though the GFS looks colder.

In any event, certainly something to watch.

Yeah was just noticing NWS point and click for 3400 ft @ K shows interesting temps this weekend...and of course there are signals for more serious cold the first week of November. Almost go time, people!
