Jackson NH Year-Round Residence

Earlier thread about second homes and retirement community got me thinking about Jackson NH. Have never spent much time there other than an occasional x-c ski day or a visit to Black Mountain. Any opinions about Jackson? Seems like easy access to mountain recreating year-round, quaint with a limited amount of development available close to N. Conway and even Portland.

Nice little community, less than 2000 residents. My cousin lives there. What sucks is if you make it your first home as the job market ain't so great. Luckily, her husband can live anywhere with his job so they're able to make it work. She likes how quiet it is.
