Resort or Ski Area: Jay Peak

Conditions: Powder - Packed Powder - Ice

Trip Report:

Headed up to Jay on Friday night expecting the worst. Rain all the way up to the notch then it turned to snow. Several accidents north of the notch and we made it up to Jay around 11:00 pm. Snow was coming down pretty good.

Got up Saturday morning to fresh powder. Jay reported 2 - 3 but seamed a lot more than that in the woods. Many of the groomers had a packed powder surface and untracked powder in the woods. By noon time the groomers were turning to ice but the woods still had powder in them. By 10:00 the crowds started arriving and the lines seemed a normal weekend at Jay.

Skied Sunday morning. Jay reported an inch over night but that was a joke. It was more like a dusting. Conditions were more like what we expected. Many of the groomers were all ice and many were closed. The woods were all tracked out but still skied well and was definitely the place to be.Called it quits around one. By the time we left there was an inch of new snow on the ground.

Glad we went up instead of canceling.
