I feel a snow emergency coming on.

Jay got 6" overnight, a total of 13" since Monday. I think they are in a funk.

Last Updated Feb 22, 05:22 AM EST
NEW SNOW 6" + overnight
WEATHER Heavy snow
TEMPERATURE 20ºF / -7ºC
SNOW CONDITIONS Powder, Packed Powder
BASE DEPTH 12-36"
TRAILS OPEN 69 of 76
LIFTS OPEN 8 of 8

They are getting pretty charged:
"According to forecasters we will see flurries and periods of heavy snow today(yesterday they said flurries) and we reveived close to 10 inches since Tuesday morning, we like flurries that add up. Temps will be in the mid 20's and light winds. More snow is in the forecast for the next several days into the week end."

I think they're right.
Damn, work keeps getting in the way....

Ohh, you're making this oh so hard.

I'm thinking about going to Jay for a weekend either the first or second weekend in March... working around the AZ gather of course.

Can I get some opinions on what the conditions should be like from those that have been there recently? According to their map, 19 of 21 glades are open. Mmmm.... that's reason enough to go right there.

It was pretty sweet last Wednesday. Note that this was before the rain. But they have a pretty solid base and they've gotten a good amount of new snow since that warmup. I say go for it.

Well, for $100 two day ticket, and less than $27.50 a night at Grampa Grunts lodge, I'm lookin at $160 for a two day, two night trip. Probably $200 w/ gas.

Not bad. I could stand to do that two or three times a season for sure. Drive up Friday night, back Sunday night.

Remember that if you have a pass to another mountain, they give you a $35 ticket or something like that. Also remember that they were running some great deals on their website as well.

wow, i just checked their trail report on their web site, nearly 100% open  hot damn! i am sure jay is going to be ripping after the storms coming in the next few days. if i thought i was able to ski the woods yet, i would be hitting jay instead of burke for my first day back.

Welcome Kowalski.

Greg, the forum founder, changed the software that the forum runs on yesterday. If you posted your first message yesterday afternoon then that was when the first attempt at the new software was made. The data-base got corrupted shortly after the first implementation and had to be restored from the back-up which means that all the messages made during that time were lost. Thats probably how your message got lost.

If we had to delete your message for any reason we would have PM'd you to let you know why.

That makes sense because I did make the post around noon time. And on the subject of the thread I just checked Jays web site to find that they recieved another 6-8 inches today on top of the 6 inches last night.

Come on Riv. From hearing your comments all year and last I know no stinking injury will hold you back from a POW day at Jay...

i have stated many times i am not skiing until the doc clears me. besides, i ain't jumping into the woods right away on my first day out. just going to be getting the confidence back and seeing how much weight my arm can handle. if anything, i would like to stay out of powder for the first few times out so i won't be disappointed that i can't sample it. i may love powder and am ready to hike for it, but i am cautious when it comes to risking permanent damage that could keep me sidelined for more than three months...

I can vouch for this - spent the week at Orford across the QU border and it snowed every day this week except Wednesday. 6" of fresh on the ground this AM but we had to leave. Drove down 55 to 91 to 93 in occasional white-out conditions until we got south of Franconia Notch.

Problem is - they could use a whole lot more than what they've gotten recently, becasue with the wind last week and today a lot of the new snow is deep in the woods, and the trails are easily scraped back down to boilerplate in no time.

I was @ Jay Peak on the 22nd and it was great. The woods had some knee deep powder. No snow on the ground until you were about a mile from there. The day was epic.
