Thinking About hitting Jay up this weekend. Anyone got the latest on the conditions up there? Is it worth the drive or is someplace closer going to be just as good this weekend?

Reports from Saturday and Sunday with pictures are on my site:

Bear in mind those reports and pictures came from a dedicated tree fiend that knows all the shots at Jay. The trails are okay but still a bit scraped and icy in places. Snow this week should freshen things up, Saturday should be good........

after 2-4 all day on tues and 6-8 through the day yesterday jay is fresh, consistent boot top+ to knee deep, no people and fresh tracks all day, don't know whats left by the weekend but if you dig deep enough into the woods you will find your lines, if your going to ski bumps things should be great, why anyone goes to jay to ski trails is crazy, save yourself the drive and ski south(thats wasn't meant to be mean, but there are much better mountains with better fall lines and trails to ski)

So to clarify the woods and moguls should still be solid in spots by the weekend. Really I've been to Jay before and if things are good I have no intentions of being out of the woods all day.

When kingdom-tele says the woods will hold out some treats for Saturday, that surely means trees not on the map. Don't expect any fresh on any marked trail or glade... just so no one goes up to Jay with their hopes up.

Work is going to dog me this weekend. Definitely working all day Sunday and Saturday late afternoon, but I should be able to sneak away for three hours of pow hounding before the crowds show up and everything tracks the heck out. Get head off to work around noon time and settle up for a week off hell. Wish I could have gotten out yesterday but this time of year really screws with my ski days.
