No problem on your thoughts-I'm happy for it. Not sure I'm on the same page with you with respect to last year's site, but still...
I will echo that... this year's site is a dramatic improvement compared to last year. The gripe against Flash is solid, though. As a web master myself, I find Flash can really limit your audience. Not sure how Flash appears on hand held and portable devices but I can't imagine it is a very good content delivery mechanism. People with certain browsers or without the latest version of Flash can really be put off when they can't access the page (case in point here). Accessibility should always be top priority with web site design, especially a business web site, so as not to loose customers due to older software. I went through this when I switched to Linux before I got my browser configured (which took months of being fummed at web sites due to Flash issues).

I think the Bill Stenger introduction is funny... but I think people familiar with Jay will get it because of how involved Bill is. Those not familiar with Jay will say WTF is that dude doing... where is the web page already!!! Glad to hear the interactive map is getting reviewed and I will be excited to see trail/lifts listed out without having to look at the interactive map. Looks like some growing pains... but overall this site is 100% improvement compared to the last site. The quick reference on the conditions/weather took some getting used to but I really enjoy having quick access right from the home page via drop downs.

I will speak on behalf of the hand held wireless, I like the mobile.jaypeakresort.com version. I don't care about all of the other crap on the site. Just want conditions, etc.. My PDA is my only form of internet access when I am in VT and rely on it for morning condition check up.

...Folks--you'll need Flash 9 or greater to view the site (while some corporations do block Flash use, more than 90% of operating systems carry Flash 9 and up).

The Interactive trail map is currently getting recrunched so that it's more useful. The concept of user-generated posts was interesting but, to be honest, I didn't fully think through the potential misuse/stash-revelation implications. Should have everything worked through in about 7 working days.

Oh and the preloader with Bill is being r/w as well. Just a coupla days on that one.

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, the IT policy at my workplace does not permit me to download and install the flash update (or any other program, for that matter).

I see you've made the choice to develop a good site for 90% of the people out there, but I would have thought there'd be a back up plan for the other 10%.

Anyway, it's just a website. Not going to keep me from coming (though it's harder to get psyched for the long drive).

Introduction: I did know that was Bill Stenger, but just was not sure if there was a backstory or something....

Site was updated yesterday... Bill is gone...

Map should be clearer to see... and i don't know who made it... but it's confusing... Trails are off... Crosssings are wrong... For example, Lower Goat Run should start at Lower Quai... because now it shows that you can continue past the quai... and then nothing is open... Same with the Flash... down from Expo Glade... It's a trail... not a traverse from Quai to exhibition... and it would actually be the other way... from Exhibition to the quai...

Snowfall charts should go straight to "current month"... now it shows up as October... while in December... A bit frustrating not being able to see what's going on right now...

Also, blog should be used more often... i pointed out that the last posting was on Nov. 19th... A bit sad... it's an excellent feature... I know Steve is running around like crazy with the amount of stuff going on at the mountain with all the things that need to be fixed before Xmas time... I know he has bigger things on his plate then the website... I won't list it... but there is loads of work to be done!

But yeah, Jay rocks!
