So what do you think the rain showers will do to Jay's powder on this weekend? Friday calls for 41F and Saturday for 19F highs. Will it all freeze up or will the glades still be OK? Just looking for opinions from old-timers - snow gurus...
Thanks
Nick

probably setting up for a dust on crust saturday

good part is the snowpack will absorb a fair bit of rain, just consolidate, surfaces may stay edgeable

these are great conditions to search out new lines, you can cover a ton of miles on a crust that is over a 7' snow pack

the glades stay 10 degrees colder than the trails due to the shade so you should be fine...just kidding..looks like the top layer of snow will melt and refreeze..

I'm already going to be there so I have to take what is available...will be a bit disappointing after reading the trip reports from the past few days, but should be fun nevertheless.

if this liquid snow falls tomorrow, saturday isnt going to be anything stellar. suppose to go bluebird though, so maybe a good day to sleep in, pack a few beers, and ski the afternoon. sunday is when things will get interesting again, keep doing those snow dances....i would say screw the weekend and keep monday/tuesday open.

Still some amazingly sweet stuff to be found this morning (Thurs), but you could really feel it setting up as the temps warmed this afternoon. Tomorrow sounds pretty grim - which is fine, I need a rest. But rain followed by COLD does not bode well... but they are calling for more snow into next week.

the waist deep drift on my balcony at Hotel Jay is now 6" deep. 46 degrees at 5 pm. Right now @ 10 PM the wind is howling & rain is beating on the windows. Supposed to be in the high teens Saturday. I'm outta here.
