Anything woods.....just start ticking them off, they're all good. I'm back there at least once a year for the last 8 years or so and continue to ski new stuff every trip. Just bring a trail map along and be sure to study it before hand to get a lay of the land. Wind could be an issue this weekend after the storm, but hopefully the Bonneventure will still be running even if the Tram, Flyer and Jet are on hold, which still gets you access to some great woods. Have fun!!

Beaver pond is an overrated waste of time......other then that....it's all really fun woods.

Yeah but it gets the crowd...
(too short for me as well... lots of boring traverse... haul on the freezer isn't worth it just for Beaver pond!)

The Pond run-out does suck big ones and if you go "way out" missing the run-out and hiking back out is no fun. But it is relatively short, but you can find fresh snow there while other glades are tracked out.

There are certainly fun woods all over the place at Jay.

Semi-hijack of this thread...I've never been to Jay neither have some friends of mine who really want to go. Long drive from RI/Boston so thinking of staying somewhere for maybe 1 night or 2.

Any good lodging around that area or maybe even a house? Looked around a bit and wasn't seeing much, and I know the AZ crowd has the inside scoop :)

Beaver Pond = Most Overrated Glade in New England.

TequilaDoug: If you like glades, just grab a map and hit them all. The tram is a time suck so be wary of waiting in line for three or four trams when you could be skiing. If you get there for the first tram, then it is worth waiting for if conditions are good. The high speed quad is really friggin cold an a lot of the same runs can be accessed from the fixed grip quad. Use "The Freezer" at your own risk. Go and enjoy.

JD - keep going - its a trek but will leave you smilin all day

If by this you mean put skins on and keep going, then I am intrigued. I have always looked up there and wondered. Isn't there a lift planned for this area in the "exlposion" plan.

Super8 in Newport is only 25 minutes away and $45-$55 night!
