Conditions: Hard Pack man made snow, some ice.

Trip Report: Had a great day. The sun was out all day and there was no wind. I couldn't believe they had so many trails open, since its all man made snow. All the trails were groomed. In the morning the Hard Pack was real hard since it froze over after they groomed. But as the day worn on the snow softened up and the skiing was fine, so long as your edges were sharp. 8)8)

I was thinking of heading to Jiminy over Christmas holiday. It's only a 30 minute drive from my mother's house. I'm actually surprised how much terrain they have open for having no snow. 23 trails I heard last. I'm sure not much of the advanced terrain is open yet though.

They do a great job making snow. However, imho the trails are boring and straight down the fall line with not much character. But with this season's start....that's not so bad. That being said, I also took my baby there for a really fun day on Sunday of their opening weekend and do usually ski there a day or 2 every season.

When I was there on Tues they only had one expert trial open, but they were making snow on upper and lower whitetail which is now open. I assume when the start making snow again they will open more expert terrain. As far as I can tell they have the most trials open south of Vermont.

Jiminy does get boring. I'll typically go 3-5 times a year. It's very convenient for me. I went last year for a few days mid week and stayed in their hotel. Best way to do it. I remember waking up and hitting the slopes at 9:00, when I came in for a break at 4, my tracks were still the only ones in the snow. Not a soul there. Truly had the mountain to ourselves.
