Actually, I don't think I will. Too many unanswered questions. Who will pay for this statue? Is any public funding proposed for its installation and upkeep? If so, I would actively oppose it. Well, not very actively, because I don't really care enough to do much more about it than make this post. Yeah, I'm that apathetic.
Who is the artist that created the statue? Who will cast the actual piece? Why are "maquette," "cut," "grass roots" and "international city" in quotes? Are the words not actually cut, and is this not actually a grassroots effort? Is that not actually a maquette, and is instead a full size version hidden in some guy's garage in Queens? How does NYC's status as an international city combine with John Lennon's message of peace, and how do the two work together? Why is John wearing a wife beater? Did he ever wear a wife beater in real life? Would he be offended by the term "wife beater" in the first place? What's that on his belt buckle? Did John win a bass fishing competition?
Too many questions. Without more data, I can't make an informed decision on the matter.
John Lennon just Google him and NYc and see what shows up.
