I'm out in front of my place when my across the street neighbor a young woman and her child come up the street in a new Pathfinder ,she and her hubby both school teachers were in separate vehicles as they were going up river to a family camp for the weekend He was 10 minutes ahead of her
All of a sudden I hear what i think is an explosion -----------------no its a case of distracted driving -- she apparantly reached over to change a DVD and lo and behold in doing so she inadvertantly serves to the right, hits the gas as she was inserting the DVD and slams in to and breaks a telephone pole.. She totals the car and the pole snaps and live wires are dangling but NOT near them fortunately
We rush to see if anyone's hurt , fortunately the crumple zone protected them but the engine is in the back of the firewall .. I got them out they were obviously in shock but no visible injuries.. So i called 911 and within 2 minutes the cops , the rescue squad the Fire dept and the gas and electric companies were there to begin operations .
the Queen and i comforted the young mom while her son was enamoured of all the BIG fire and rescue trucks and the cherry pickers that arrived . I got her hubby on the horn and he too arrived and was able to comfort her
I wanted her to go to the hospital to get checked out since she is also pregnant with child #2 -------------As i write this she has yet to go to the hospital and the crews aer setting the new pole
Fortunately this ended better than i expected the crash was loud enuf to scare the hell outta me .
