holy shit

Video says:

I was skiing when my friend gets off balance and ends up hanging from the chair. He did not have the security bar down. He hung from about Pole 8 to 21, and at 21 he fell. This was on a lift that averages 37ft above the ground, But pole 21 was the 3rd highest strech at about 45ft high, 19 being the highest. He suffered from injuries including: concussion, skull fracture, collapsed lung, and a lacerated liver.

He had to be helicoptered out to a local hospital.

Glad the kid lived, albeit with some terrible injuries.

That was horrifying. Not sure that helped my fear of slipping off of lift chairs.

I wonder what the details are behind it. I'm betting they were messing around on the lift before that happened. Apparently he hung on for a long time - somewhere in the comments it said from Tower 8 to Tower 21 or something like that.

Shall we revisit the "Do you close the safety bar" thread?

Hope he comes through the injuries OK, those are some pretty serious ones for sure

A young girl fell off the chair at Jiminy Peak this past weekend. I believe she broke her femur.

Should this go in the wtf thread?

.....or in this section? Or both?

When the CVA chairlift-nobar testosterones are among those in line @SL I find it relaxing to avoid being chair-mates....

Indeed. Mrs Skimaine suffered through this last weekend. Her shoulder is quite sore and she could not reach up to pull the bar down. Next time - thanks but no thanks.

Kid was trying to throw a snowball with the safety bar up. Testing Darwinism was going to be his next trick but he never got that far as he was taken out by that pesky gravity thing :daffy:
