This was my first trip to Killington, and I was really impressed with the amount of terrain and how much of it was covered with some really nice soft skiable snow. I started the day taking the K-1 Lodge gondi up to the peak. Skied down Great Eastern to Cruise Control to get myself used to the place. The snow was soft and wonderful.
Rode the Skyeship back up and took some more runs down, tried to cover the mountain left to right and did a pretty good job of getting all the way over to Ramshead after lunch.
The conditions were deteriorating pretty quickly after lunch, the winds really began to whip around blowing snow off the trails, along with it being skied off.
Overall, I really liked Killington, I know you guys must be bored with hearing my glowing reports about everyplace I go to, but sometimes it's nice to get a fresh perspective on places you've gone for years or decades.
Overall, Killington was my favorite, I'll have to go back to Sunday River now that they have some cover.
The blacks and doubleblacks looked pretty imposing, and I have to admit that a green run on Bear would have been a blue over on Ramshead. Header, for example shouldn't really be a blue run, I am no expert, I am an intermediate at best, and that was just a straight shot.
Anyway, It was incredibly cold, intermittent cloud cover and sometimes when you looked up at the mountain you couldn't tell if they were blowing snow or it was the wind whipping it around. The place was pretty empty and I didn't really have to wait long, and about 1:30 there were large ice patches showing through on Skyeburst.
