The Ct guys get sh-t for their stuff, they never compare Ct to Vermont. You put Pa in with Vermont. I need to make the 7 hour ride south to check this out. I see it as a future trend.
Seriously, we should do an AlpineZone day at Blue this year.

Hmmm, I can name a few other resorts that could top K-Mart...

Stowe and Jay Peak come to mind. Hell sugarbush too

I'll give you Stowe and Sugarbush as possibly being perceived as better by most skiers. Jay would only be viewed better by advanced skiers and riders. They simply don't have the cruiser terrain acreage and what they do have isn't known to be groomed that well.

At the end of the day, Killington still had one of the longest seasons of any eastern area, they're still the biggest, has great terrain overall despite a tad bit of deficiency in cruising offerings and the place parties.

I skied there a bunch growing up as a kid, but never really cared for it much. The jersey gapers weren't the turn off. It was often the regulars that thought they were god's greatest gift to skiing. I noticed a ton of that on Outer Limits as a kid. I hate to generalize as I'm sure there are some real chill Killington regulars, plenty whom post here; but that overall attitude image that was impressed on me 20 years ago still remains. It's probably why I haven't made an effort to get back there since I moved back to New England 5 years ago.

Jesus, where did they administer this survey? Singapore? A list where your top 3 are Kmart, Saddleback, and friggin Gunstock makes no sense to me.

It's nice to see Saddleback on there, but none of the other S mtns (Stowe, Sugarbush, and Sugarloaf) is suspicious.

if this means anything, it's website averages a few hundred visits peaking at 2600 in february. ski mag gets over 75,000 visits, so whatever snoweast's sampling represents, it's very small. whatever these polls are worth, a poll on azone would have about the same validity.

let's see no mention of sugarbush, sugarloaf or jay peak in any of the 8 categories. stowe's only mention is #9 as favorite destination village beaten by such classics as great barrington, ma and rangely, me and yes the killington access road. even okemo gets short shrift mentioned #6 grooming and #9 snowmaking, things for which that area is noted. and in favorite resorts under 1100, mt peter gets #3 and no mention of sundown.

i'm all for the smaller mtns getting some love. we all started there. and being a long time passholder at k, despite it's current problems, it's still one of the best in the east, but for tom to get all pumped up about this "poll" is a bit embarrassing and kinda shows how far the mighty has fallen.

Well that's because Gunstock has a lake and Cranmore has well um... North Conway...

:snow:

Seriously if I were to rank my top 5 resorts in the East they would be as follows:

1. Stowe
2. Sunday River
3. Sugarbush
4. Jay
5. K-Mart

Wow Sunday River over Sugarbush and Jay...I only skied there once and their lack of natural snowfall and low elevation seemed like a major disadvantage..

we can all argue about what our personal top 5 would be but i don't think any of us would have one that looks like this:

1. Killington/ Pico, VT
2. Saddleback, ME
3. Gunstock Mountain, NH
4. Loon Mountain, NH
5. Cranmore Mountain, NH
