I never seem to get the hood to stay in place over my helmet unless I pull the zipper all the way up. I think that is how the shells are designed now. I dont love having the shell right by my mouth.

I'll only wear a hood if there's a brief rain shower or really wet snow. Sustained rain and I'm packing it in these days. That was with my old FlyLow with attached Hood. My current Stio has a removable hood and I took it right off after purchasing.

I wear a hood over my helmet most of the time. It’s cozy, blocks wind.
Yeah, I've enjoyed having a permanent hood on my last two heavy duty ski jackets, over about the last dozen years between the two of them. I agree, when it's up it restricts your movement and visibility a little bit, so I only wear hood up while actually skiing if it's really cold and/or storming heavily. But I will frequently pull the hood up on chairlift rides if I feel a little chilly or it's dumping. I like how snug they can get over your helmet if you zip the jacket up. Every once in a while I'll dump snow down my neck when I pull the hood up after it got filled with fresh falling snow.

Fending off snowgun spray a couple years ago at Massanutten, VA:

At Snowbird for one of the few sunny breaks during a week in Jan 2017 when it snowed 70+ inches!

Somewhere, maybe it was Jackson Hole, I got in a lift line next to a guy wearing something like this in place of a hood:

You got a Stio jacket? Dang it, I’ve got one on the way, now I have to return it.

I only buy on discount... Either coupon, sale, or through my buddy who is in the Pro Program. Their stuff is good but probably about 30% overpriced.

Which models you guys sporting? I have the environ shell. Didn't realize they have jackets with removable hoods.
I got the Environ. You have it too? Gaddamn it! 😆
Some of you have too much money if you’re buying stio clothing. 😂
Agree it’s pricey, I got a killer discount though my wife but I wear a jacket for a solid 4+ years normally so I was ready to spend regardless.
