Lake Winnipasaukee

Spent 4 days up there last week (Thur - Sun). In 30 years, I've rarely experience the lake @ 80F. WHOA! We put chairs on the lake and sat there most of the day.

This was the first time in 10 years that my entire family (all six of us) were there. This project I've been on really drove the train all this time. It's coming to an end and I've got some vaca to consume (and to save for ski season).

Usually, the lake temp is 70+, and I'm good for about 30 minutes before I'm shivering.

Our boat died two years ago. :< But the neighbor took us for a 2-hour cruise. It may be the last time we get there...contemplating selling...property taxes on lake-front are crazy. Co-owning sibs are getting ready to retire and can't afford it. May as well cash in and get comfy. It will be sad to let it go....but I know quite a few folks doing the same thing.

*sigh* All I need to do is hit the lottery. *smirk*

GREAT pictures! What a terrific lakehouse. Bummer they might have to sell it. Several years ago our friends had a place on Winnepesaukee (up in Moultonborough Neck) on a perfect, crescent-shaped beach that was just killer. We went there for a week over the 4th of July for 3 years in a row, but then they broke up and got divorced and sold the house. Sure was fiun while it lasted.

When I was a kid, locals could still afford lakefront property in Lake George, and in 1976 my dad bought a huge old oversized A-frame with a boathouse on the east side. I spent 5-6 summers cruising around the lake and it was better than you can even imagine. But then it got too expensive and my parents sold it to some rich guy from NYC who owned a big chunk of the Entennman's bakery company. Winnepesaukee always reminds me of those days on LG.

Great view of the mountains and that is truly a quality fling from the dock - !! Glad you all had fun!!!!!!!! :beer:

Thanks guys. Yep, it's tough. It's much easier to discuss the loss of the place if I don't go...don't look at the pictures. For years, I've been dreading the thought...and working to soak in every view when I get there knowing it may be the last time.

The best views are in October, when the leaves have changed and the lake is like a mirror. The Loons call out and it echoes up and down.

It's just too much. I've paid for two kids in college. #3 entering year four of five (Northeastern), and my daughter (#4) is in 10th grade. New septic for the MA house. It's tough!

The place has two bedrooms in the main building. One bathroom. The garage has a bunkroom (four beds). Limited septic, and upgrade is "mounded" with a lift station. Can't swing it.

Tough to rent it as is.

It would be OK for winter rental for snowmobilers (multiple bay garage and easy access to the lake). But as a ski house...it's 1-1/4 hrs to Wildcat. 45 minutes just to get back to 93 (exit 23). Gunstock would be about 30 minutes.

I can't afford a second home...and I'm in a better financial situation than my sibs (all older). Time to cash in and get healthy locally. :<

Can't afford a boat (can't afford the gas!). I saw it for $4 on the lake. I'm in the wrong tax bracket to be a lakefront property owner.
