As I continue my analysis of peak lift ticket prices, and balance the northeast against the west, I don't feel so bad about Stowe's 84 bucks any more.... :roll:
Vail
$ 89
Beaver Creek
$ 89
Buttermilk/Tiehack (Snowmass/Aspen)
$ 87
Aspen /Snowmass
$ 87
Steamboat
$ 85
Teluride
$ 85
Stowe
$ 84
Breckenridge
$ 83
Keystone
$ 83
Jackson Hole
$ 81

Many of the above rates are multi-day, since most of the west areas don't publish single day rates.:roll:

Full disclosure - the top 7 resorts have remained fairly constant for several years, shifting slightly in the rankings.

I quit when it hit's $100.

Yeah right.
I said that when it hit $50.

At what price do you start using AT gear?

If you live out there you can get passes fairly cheap I belive (Rocky Mt. Super Pass???) Plus I would think most people do a ski and stay deal. But it's still outrageous anyway you spin it.

Stowe doesn't really rate anywhere near anyone else on that list, though.
I know. I was just comparing some vertical number for these top resorts (I don't have acreage):
Vail
3,330
Beaver Creek
Buttermilk/Tiehack (Snowmass/Aspen)
2,030
Aspen /Snowmass
Steamboat
3,484
Teluride
3,250
Stowe
2,360
Breckenridge
2,541
Keystone
Jackson Hole

My Denver friends pay $200 I believe and get 7 or so days to Beaver, Vail, Keystone.

Of course last time I was out there I swindled a couple Colorado gold medals good at any ski resort so we skied the above plus Winter Park for free, but that's another story.

Keep in mind you can purchase discounted tickets in colorado at the grocery store. Very few people pay full price, season passes are much cheaper, snow is more consistent, and the acerage of resorts is a lot bigger. With my Rocky mt. super pass alone i can purchase up to four steeply discounted tickets for others each day. Same with the loveland pass. Utah tickets can be easily purchased at canyon sports.

you have to wonder at what point the criminal element kicks in....

Uhh never, cause simple economics (which holds up here cause you said yourself the top 7 have been there consistently) says that the demand is there for them to charge that amount.

I really hate how cheap people criticise a business to try and maximize the amount of money in their pockets, when the cheap skate is doing the exact same thing ... trying to maximize the amount of money in their pocket.
