Live TR: Cannon Mountain
At cannon today, taking a break at the bar! been here since 8am, snowing lightly, powder conditions, small crowds. been to the summit, a few times. clouded in. but nice conditions. who needs valentines day anyway?
--- Update--
So now that I am comfortably off the mountain, what a great day at Cannon! I must say, that I am thoroughly impressed with the capital improvements made here. My day started by taking the high speed quad up to Big Link, and down to the Cannonball lift. Riding up cannonball, it was really really foggy, with tons of rhime ice. Arriving up to the top, I took the famous Taft Slalom trail down to upper ravine to middle ravine and lower ravine. A great first run. The next run I took was up to middle cannon by-pass to paulie's extension, and down paulie's folly. Another fantastic run. Riding up the slow as ass triple, I made my way back down lower cannon to jump back onto the HSQ and the summit via the cannonball quad. Looking to de-ice my goggles, I went into the tram lodge, and enjoyed a my delicious breakfast... a Milky Way bar! The next run was upper cannon, down to middle cannon, and down lower cannon ... Back up on the HSQ I went up to middle ravine and lower ravine to the chute... Where I paused for a quick lunch and a beer!
Back up to the top, I decided to give the ol' cannonball run a run... Fogged in, and not be able to see the contours of the trail, I didn't realized it was completely bumped up at the mid-way point. None the less, a good bump run later, back up to the quad, down tram way to David's detour... down middle cannon, and back parkway to the HSQ... Continued back up to the top, and this time took upper ravine to short fuse... to blue balls, and down to the bottom. Wanting to check out the tuckbrook area for my wife who will get on skis come hell or high water, I covered the area... Which brought me back up to middle cannon via the HSQ to hitting valalanche, zoomer and rocket... before calling it a day. I would have more pictures, but well... my phone died so I only go this one pic... And as you can see it was quite clouded in!
All in all, I am a cannon fan I have to say after this visit!
