Tri-State Area Braces for Thunderstorms, Possible Tornadoes
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Some nasty weather could be headed to the Tri-State area Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire area until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
New York City’s Department of Buildings is advising property owners, builders and contractors to take precautions due to the thunderstorms and high winds.
With potential wind gusts up to 60 mph, the agency says construction sites should be safely secured, and that spot checks will be performed around the city.
The National Weather Service also says it may issue a tornado watch for the entire east coast area between Boston and Washington D.C.
