Going to a concert in Albany on Friday Feb 5th. Want to spend the night somewhere up there then ski on Saturday. Was thinking about Gore but I thought I'd see if you guys had suggestions. Other options are Snow, Stratton, Okemo, possibly Killington, etc. I'd like somewhere with varied terrain: steeps, bumps, etc and perhaps most importantly I HATE waiting in lift lines. Which area within 1.5-2hrs from Albany is likely to have the shortest lift lines on a Saturday?

I'd bet my last dollar that out of the areas you mentioned the shortest lift lines will be at Gore.

Gore is a good suggestion. Stratton Snow and Okemo can be awful on a weekend. Gore is a good suggestion. If we get some snow between now and then Magic woudl be a good choice as well.

As mentioned, if you hate lift lines Gore is your place. The parking limits the crowd. On most weekends it is basically ski onto the lift. Sometimes the Gondola (at the base) might get a 5 minute line around 10am or after lunch. They have a decent cross section of terrain from trees to cruisers to steeps. It is also about 20 miles from I-87 (Northway) so most of your trip is highway.

I've skied all those areas from a base of just north of Albany. Gore is the closest and easiest drive and also has good and varied terrain. Gore will also have the smallest lines next to Magic which is another very good choice.

If we get no significant snowfall between now and Feb 5 consider Okemo for snow making and grooming prowess. K will likely have good coverage, certainly more challenge and likely more challenging conditions. Stratton will be similar to Okemo in conditions, terrain and crowd size.

We combined a trip to see a concert in Hanover NH with a ski weekend at Okemo a couple of years ago it was a cool trip.

A buddy did Gore when we saw Phil and friends in Albany. Was pretty easy to get to and not crowded.
