Hello,
This is my first post so please bare with me. I've been downhill skiing for about 20 years. I consider myself a intermediate skier who is trying to move on to the next level. I ski mostly blue trails and have some black trails i like to ski as well. However, the black trails I do occasionally ski, usually are covered in hard crusty ice making it somewhat difficult for me to navigate( not very smooth or fluid in my form). I ski @smugglers notch in Jeffersonville VT. I think part of the problem is my equipment. Here is what I'm skiing on. After you all are done laughing, maybe someone can make a recommendation. I have been reading about K2 AMP Charger, Rossi 88, Elan Apex.

Salomon MLX 192 skis
Salomon Driver 877 Bindings(ski shops won't adjust them anymore)
Age=57
Height=5'9"
Weight= 185lbs
I like narrow trails, and some bumbs, but my skis are a little too long. Also, on wider trails, where the snow has been skied off, I tend to ski on the side near the tree line making short quick turns. Thanks for any comments :)

I would highly recommend you demo a bunch of different types of skis, then go with what you like best!

This! The skis you listed are fine but there are a ton of skis out there that can work for you. It really depends on how you like to ski and what you want to feel frmo your skis. At your height and weight probably suggest you try something around 175ish depending on the ski.

agree with others saying to demo, especially if the mountain has an onsite option. i'd done this at Okemo years back where you could (for a fee) try out several different pairs of skis over the course of a day.

i recently demo'd a pair of K2 Aftershock and liked them very much. it is billed as an all-mountain rocker - they handled great on groomed trails and held very well on hard pack.

I really like my Dynastar Sultan 85's..they hold well on ice and are flexible enough when conditions are good. Its nice to have a little more width under foot when it gets deep out there. I would demo anything between 80 and 90 mm wide and see what you like...

ditto on the Sultan 85's. All mountain varied conditions.
