LOON MOUNTAIN
SNOW CONDITIONS: PP, MGR, MMPOW, some HP
WEATHER: Base hovered around 20F, wind chill brought temps to the single digits, mostly sunny
TRIP REPORT:
Across Loon Mountain proper the snow guns were firing away providing excellent conditions! Was pleasantly surprised with the primary surface condition being PP! First two runs were Blue Ox, great snow! Rampasture was next with equal quality. Even Grand Junction had great goodies to carve through on the way to North Peak. On North Peak tower guns were blanketing Upper/Lower Walking Boss with PP and MMPOW, that acronym is for man made powder. Yes, that sounds strange but twice this season below these guns I have experienced it! Just a couple of inches but it made for great skiing every run! After the boss went down Sunset with the some type of snow.
Upper Flying Fox was a little scratchy but Upper Picked Rock more than made up for it. Followed those routes to Basin Street to ascend the North Peak HSDQ a few more times.
Final runs were back on Blue Ox, Rampasture, and Upper Rumrunner. Loon has made a great recovery from the terrible ‘R’ word last week.
