Lincoln, NH, November 23 - New Hampshire's Loon Mountain opened for the 2011-2012 winter season on November 20 and celebrates the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with eight inches of fresh snow, 64 acres and four and a half miles of top-to-bottom terrain open for skiers and riders. The popular Cease & Desist rail jam event kicks off the winter events calendar this Saturday, November 26.

On Saturday skiers and riders will compete in a jam format in the Governor's Lodge base area starting at 1:30 p.m. Skiers will start off the event and compete for cash plus prizes from sponsors, Ramp and Oakley. Snowboarders will follow under the lights beginning at 5:30 p.m. Prizes for the snowboarder division will include cash prizes along with prizes from Oakley, Forum, White Flag, Special Blend, and POW.

Registration will be held in the Governor's Lodge starting at 12 p.m. for skiers and 3:30 p.m. for snowboarders. Registration for both categories is $15. Competitors who show their PEEP's Pass (Park Education & Etiquette Pass) will receive $5 off the registration fee. More information on PEEP's Passes can be found at loonmtn.com .

"Our snowmakers have done a great job with the recent cold temperatures and with eight inches falling overnight we'll be in great shape for the event on Saturday," said Brian Norton, terrain parks manager. "We are psyched to be kicking off the season so much terrain open, a Top Secret Park on the hill and with this rail jam event, so we hope a lot of folks come out to compete on Saturday."

Cease & Desist is the first of many events happening at Loon Mountain this season. Now through December 18 guests can help Loon 'Ring in the Winter,' by donating wearable winter garments in good condition for those in need this winter. A collection bin can be found inside the Octagon Lodge. On December 17, Loon Mountain will be hosting Demo Day at the Governor's Pavilion from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. when guests can try out the latest ski and snowboard equipment for the 2011-2012 winter season.
