Loon Mountain used to have a trail called 'Lower Flying Fox', the trail was turned into a terrain park many years ago dropping the original name. But yesterday and today it is open and groomed with no features, jumps or elements set up. It's a nice cruiser, and for anyone who remembers that trail it was fun to do again.

Current surface conditions you could really push the speed as well!

Mount Snow did the same thing this year with Un Blanco Gulch, no that all the park features are over at Carinthia. It has reverted back to its fun, original ski trail mentality in the form of now just being called "Canyon" Since Un Blanco Gulch was one of the 1st terrain parks in the East (been around since '92 or '93 as memory recalls), the kept part of it name when they "moved" it over to Carinthia. So what last year was "Vermonster" is now just called "The Gulch". That though is a trail with serious identity issues as 2 seasons ago it was known as "Fairway" then last year as "Vermonster" and now "The Gulch"

Upper flying fox and upper picked rock were great too --

But over the weekend, lower flying fox had some of the best snow on the mountain -- Sorry for no trip report or pictures besides this one from the top,

but I did manage to upload my GPS track to MountainDynamics.com (Looks like my GPS isn't capturing elevation yet, gotta change the settings)

Yeah, that was the best trail this weekend along with Basin street.

I'm not exactly sure, but it was around 1997-1998 when the change happened. Telemechanic will know the answer I'm sure

'97-'98 sound right to me. The park was moved from Lower North Star where it was for the first two years after the Kanc Quad was built (before that it was on Soft Boyled).

Lower Flying Fox was the Ski School meeting place for intermediate lessons. There were signs adjacent to the top of 7 Brothers for each class level.

Thank you for verifying, I forgot the park used to be over on Lower Northstar!

For a few years there was the LMP and a park on L Northstar, I think. At least I remember it in 05-06 specifically

Yeah, I remember that park - it was a good intermediate option. They might have even had that in 06-07 also if I remember correctly. It definitly wasnt there last year. Loon really has some good park options aside from the LMP (especially if yor starting to do park stuff and want something not as intimidating). The Little Sister park last year was actually pretty sweet even though it was pretty short.
