Got out for some Bluebird powder turns at work during lunchtime. A short 10 minute skin out the back door leads to a steep tree run of about 200 vert feet. This area is very wind protected and since it has been cold the top 8 inches of snow were light and powdery even a week after the last storm. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves. We got 2 runs in.

Not too bad for an hour of “work”.

Sweet !! Great fun and sure beats the alternative . Your thread brings back memories

When i was still working i often used to ski from my office at the college.as a luncheon alternative . I kept an old pr of skis and boots and ski clothes in coat closet in my office . Luckily i had a full bathroom so could change and shower

We had 15 k of wooded , hilly XC trails on the campus with 2 really nice 100-150 ft vertical descents on them and about a half mile of river frontage . We had purchased an adjacent marginal farm that gave us an addtional 400 acres and were able to convert them to recreational facilities for hiking , biking XC and trail running as well as picnic and pavilion activities. I loved those trails --what a great place to go to when you had some serious thinking/problem solving to do. I called it my mental health break :D

Based on photo two, I think I have a good idea where you guys were. Always thought about exploring the local hills but never got a chance. Nicely done, work and turns on the same day doesn't suck.

Let's just say I'm thinking of naming the glade "Exit Ramp"

I just wonder how many hills around the area have this kind of terrain. The potential of finding dozens of spots like this is pretty good. This glade hadn't been cut at all. We did do some clearing/crushing down of some dead fall to provide more line options.

that looks like some pretty sweet terrain for the locale....probably hard to go back to work after that!
