Date(s) Skied: 3/10/12

Resort or Ski Area: Mad River Glen

Conditions: nite Pow, ice, vegetation, granite

Trip Report: Drove up Friday evening and stayed at the Garrison. Strange place indeed. Took a quick trip to check out the mountain. Looked pretty bleak.

Woke up to a little over 3" of fresh snow. Easily 6 or 7 at the base, with more up top.

Made the mistake of taking Chute for the first run. Rock hard surface under the fresh made it a bit tricky. No idea what any trails are named, but enjoyed some real nice snow along with blue ice, exposed rocks and stumps :-D.

Even with the tele-fest, it never was very crowded.

Looks like you had a good day. Chute is one of my favorite trails and finish it off with canyon and you have a sweet top to bottom bump run with some great lines.

Jack, you're a madman. There are some real nice looking lines, but top to bottom sounds like a serious ass kicker.

Nice video as usual! Did you hit the tree right after 3:35 or were no trees harmed during this filming!

Thanks o3. May have trimmed a few saplings and dulled a few rocks, but damage was minimal.

The Garrison....is indeed a strange place. I don't know anyone that stays there a second time when they come to the MRV.

Nice David! Did you demo any gear?

Just curious, but what makes it "weird?"

It has a very funky vibe for sure. Somehow they built an indoor pool on the second floor of a wood framed building.

The owner gave us a key to room 31. We unlocked the door and walked in on a couple who appeared to be up to no good. Turned around and the owner was standing there with a smile and a key to room 32. Whoops!

Advertise a heated pool, but it's not open. Cofee maker, but no coffee. Bring your own soap and shampoo. Didn't bother me, but the wife would not have been impressed.

Should have, but was too busy skiing. I've got my eyes on a pair of G3 Tonics that I demoed in CB and I'm keeping my eyes open for sales right now. My Kilowatts were fine for the ice on Friday, the powder on Saturday, and the corn on Sunday.

Hit lots of fun stuff during the weekend. My favorite runs were Saturday morning - Quacky and Quacky Woods, Chipmunk, Canyon, Catamount Bowl, Glade, all were skiing great. We hit 20th Hole on Sunday and found it surprisingly good but once out on Antelope the snow was very sticky. All in all a great weekend.

Dave, saw you Sunday at the ski racks as you were heading out. I was going to introduce myself - big fan of VFTT - but got distracted by something and then you were gone! Arrived late on Saturday to find alot of scrapped off snow but OK conditions. Sunday was outstanding reminding me why I love to ski in the east after this bad snow year. Alot of the top of the mountain never softened Sunday, my son said Paradise was a good bit of survival skiing after he came down it after lunch. My daughter and I skied Lynx a couple of times and the steeper, narrower top was pretty unforgiving given hard snow and roots and stumps sticking out. We lapped Catamount Bowl and Canyons repeatedly and anything off the double was outstanding. Had a great time skiing bumps with my kids all day. Good times.
