What a ride: The single-chair lift, the longest in the country at 1¼ miles and the second-oldest, built in 1949.
is the single really the longest lift in the country? i swear there are lifts longer than the single chair. i'll have to do some research into this. oh, maybe they mean the longest single chair in the country? not too much competition if that is the case!

I think they meant the longest single chair, which I think there's only like one other one still in operation...

The snowboarder ban was because they could not safely load them onto the lift??!!! HA! That's great. We all know the real reason(s) why they don't allow snowboarders there......

God bless the ban!

As for the Single, it's true that boarders were banned from that chair before they were banned from the rest of MRG, due to safety reasons. If you've skied there you know that the off-laoding area of the Single is very flat, requiring boarders to push off the chair when they unload. Sometimes, this would create enough sway in the chair such that it would get caught in the bullwheel housing. Not good times, for lift attendants or lift riders below.

As for the ban elsewhere on the mountain, that's a different story alltogether.

Thanks for the correction. The top of the singleis really flat, I could see how snowboarders had problems with it.....not that I sympathize or anything..
