Quick hit at Magic yesterday for Makimomo and me. Hard and fast but the freshly tuned skis were biting well all day! The snow Magic has made and groomed out is in excellent shape. A couple options down on each side of the mountain. Plenty of vertical. A half foot of snow brings a lot more stuff into play……
Turned into a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 30’s, not much softened. Great day to be outside.
Magic was buzzing. Had a pretty big race going on, so there were a lot of family’s around from the other local race teams (Stratton, Bromley, etc…….). Magic put on a great show as host, having the great surface as stated, and even firing up the Black Triple. Magic is really back, everyone’s feeling really good that 300 shares sold and $900,000 in improvements coming. The Black was smooth as silk, could use a little TLC (paint job), but it was still great to see her turning. No lift lines PDW!
The handle tow beginner area and tubing park appeared busy all day.
Lodge was buzzing all day due to the event, Black Line Pub rocks!
All in all great to see Magic having a super day and crowd like that for this weekend. Worked out great for them!

Nice report and photos! Is Talisman groomed out offering edge to edge coverage at this point? When I was there 3 wks ago the far right and left sides hadn't been touched so the middle was getting some heavy traffic.

We'll be at Magic on Sat AM...maybe just maybe the end of the week's r@*! has it cold enough to change to the good stuff

Talisman is edge to edge, Wizard is also top to bottom on the West side. Hopefully next weekend but..........

Is that Showoff blocked for racing? You mentioned that were only a couple options top to bottom. Was that blocking a third?

Showoff was closed for racing until about 2pm...but it made for some nice freshly groomed runs at the very end of the day once it was opened. Lower wizard was open too, so there were 3 options T2B, 4 when showoff opened.

That was a fun day, even went two planking for half a dozen runs (despite admonishment from Harley ) .

Race courses are always great late day runs. Well, as long as you miss the ruts and boot prints! :dontknow:

I enjoyed my day at Magic last year but I need to give it some time as there was am unhappy ski patroller that spent 3 of his runs trying to catch me. I believe the quote was, "There's only one area at this resort where skiers aren't allowed to ski and you two clowns just came down it." In my defense we came in from the side and never saw a rope. In his defense, there was only enough snow for two skiers and the others that followed our tracks were hitting things that probably resulted in core shots and torn edges. He was nice enough to compliment us with, "You two skied it well!" and didn't take our tickets. Good times!

keep the faith
Magic is now high on my list for this winter.... until the snow melts and I had to Sugarbush/Jay/ high peaks

Edit: CHEESE goddam right they didnt take your tickers. Any area that took my ticket for skiing through some gates accidentally or not is X-f off my list of chill places to ski

Oh, he wanted to take our tickets and it took a lot of apologizing to lower his blood pressure and convince him that we shouldn't be ejected from the mountain. He was absolutely correct in that once there are ski tracks in an area, others will follow. We had a sweet run but seeing people destroy equipment and take some dangerous crashes the remainder of the day drove home that the patroller was right and that the area shouldn't be skied.
