Date(s) Skied: Saturday March 15, 2008
Ski Area: Magic Mountain - Londonderry, VT
Conditions: 3"- 4" of fresh wet snow on a firm base
Trip Report:
After leaving home in Connecticut at 6:30am in a torrential downpour, I wasn't extremely optimistic about the conditions that lay ahead of me at Magic but, as the miles started to roll bye and the caffeine from my morning coffee began to reach the blood stream, the rain turned to snow! There was roughly 3+ inches of fresh "snowball" snow accumulated when I pulled into the lower lot at 9:30am.
Lodge was pretty empty when I went in to buy a ticket and boot up regardless, the conditions up on the hill where pretty damn good! Even though the new snow was wet, slow and tricky at times, it stuck nicely to the firm base snow and was just enough to make the ungroomed terrain and "woods" quite enjoyable!
Carumba
Goniff
The "Red" Chair ran silky smooth all day long and although it slowed down for the young kids to load, too the best of my knowledge it never actually came to a complete stop while I was riding!
I also had a chance to do some exploration "off the map"
Pictures from my adventures in the tree's.........
A great day of skiing anyway you look at it!
BTW, Even got a chance to talk with Jim Sullivan!
