Magura claims that the Marta SL is the lightest hydraulic mountain bike brake available. Personally, we didn't give a crap about the 'est'-we just cared that it was light as hell, and at 324 grams for the lever, line, caliper, and rotor combined, we were blown away. The how is no mystery: one look at the Marta SL's woven carbon-fiber lever and solid machined-aluminum dual-piston caliper and you know where the weight came off. And if you're as wary of super-svelte components as we are, prepare to sing a different tune. While it's definitely not for DH, the Marta SL offers superb modulation, fade-free stopping power, and beef aplenty for the majority of cross-country riders.
