Nice jd. I'm up here today. Killer snow. We were still finding some fresh in the woods after lunch. Excellent day.

JD doesn't purchase lift tickets or purchase food at a pub. He skins up the mountain and finds his dinner on the way up and then skis pow on the way back with his kill hanging from his pack.

Great stuff as always JD. I wish I had the access and stamina to do what you do.

Alchemist or Resevior in Waterbury. Take the drive, both joints are worth it. There's the shed in Stowe but, Meh....not so good. Right down town, a block from eachother.

base to summit, what's your time? Do you head straight up Gondolier?

Straight up gondolier unless it's windy. Then I'll take lower chin clip to switchback to gondi to switchback. Never checked the time on that. To the gondi house in 45 minutes is moving pretty quick. Hour inbound laps when we are skiing closed trail pre seaon are a good goal. I imagine in ideal conditions it could be done in under an hour 15. Today, breaking trail up the bootpack, the new snow had not bonded well to the hardpack so I couldn't climb as steep as I ussually do.

JD looks like you find some great stuff up there. Are you ever up for anyone tagging along?

45 minutes does seem damn quick.

How long does it usually take you from the Gondi House to the top of the Chin? Trying to gauge how out of shape I am. ;)

In ideal conditions it's less than a half an hour. Back in the days of boot packing up a buffed in staircase off the lift, 20 minutes.

okay, I'm not that bad off. took me about 35, but I wasn't hauling. Surprises me that the gondi house is 45 minutes compared to 30 for the summit when I would put the length to the gondi shack as 4 times that of the boot pack up the chin. I've never skinned before, so I don't have an appreciation for how much faster it is.

Skinning up the ski trail is easy and fast. Skinning up the bootpack requires switchback, kickturns, variable conditions....considerably slower going.
