could just be a coincidence but my AMEX was flagged yesterday for suspicious activity. had to get a new card/account.

the article about MC/Visa mentions NYC parking garages as possible source of card numbers, i've used my AMEX there a few times over the past few months.

i was mildly impressed with the process that caught my fraud. we got a call from athlete's foot asking to confirm if we were attempting to make an online purchase. they were suspicious of the activity because the ship to address was different than the bill to address (different state) and had denied the transaction until they could confirm it. it was their suggestion (tho we'd have done it anyway) to call AMEX can cancel the card.

Someone tried to use my credit card at a Pizza Hut in London. I had just eaten mussels at a Belgian place in NYC, so I was pretty sure it wasn't me.
