This is very sad. I've always found that going to the mountains enervates me and makes me feel better; perhaps that was the case here and his death was accidental, perhaps not. Regardless of the scenario, my heart goes out to his family and friends.

That's very sad. When I lived out west, hikers disappeared all the time. They were usually found, dead from a fall, but sometimes they never turned up or only years and years later. I remember one time when tens of thousands of people fanned out to find a scout who had wandered away from his camp. The search was massive, but they never found him.

The father of the missing boy started a volunteer organization to help people in similar situations and a few years later they found another scout who had been missing for three days. He was cold and hungry, but alive.

edit: Sorry, I just read the follow up article and saw that he apparently ended his life on purpose.
