Is this a serious complaint?

Not running a lift, which has no effect on skiable terrain, is grasping at straws at best.

This just weakens your argument for legitimate gripes.

This begs the follow up question to asses the validity of your complaint about the Canyon Quad not running. How was the line for K-1 during the vast majority of the day then?

If K-1, the lift that one would be using to access the majority of the trails that Canyon Quad serves, had sizeable lines all day, then not running Canyon Quad could be an valid issue. If K-1 was averaging lines less than 5 minutes all day, then not running Canyon Quad isn't as big a deal.

personally can't stand riding the boxes for a couple reasons. overall ride on the canyon is half that of the k1 when you take into consideration taking skis on & off, the runout & great northern, shuffling through lift line (even the singles).

wasn't complaining about the blackout pass, but when you're charging your top rate, think it's a reasonable to expect all key lifts to run. i consider the canyon quad to be a key lift. if you're not gonna run all key lifts then you should not be charging top dollar and treating it like a premium week. k shoulda been charging the regular mid-week rate because they provided the usual mid-week service. a very simple concept ...

I think this is 100% reasonable.

May sound reasonable, if skiadikt were actually telling the truth.

Killington "should not be charging top dollar and treating it like a premium week".

They ran 6 extra lifts on Monday, 4 extra lifts on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 extra lifts on Thursday and Friday, all above and beyond what normally runs on a weekday. They also extended all lift hours by atleast an hour and some even more than that.

A Killington lift ticket provides access to the lifts, a regular weekday lift ticket costs $79 which is $11.29 per hour, a holiday lift ticket is $86 which is $10.75 per hour.

However, you do have to consider that there's not all that much point in running the CQ with how this season has turned out, and the skier surface can't really handle the traffic of having it running, IMO. A quad for Cascade and Lower East Fall, is not really the best use of resources.

From an operational standpoint I don't know how you would be able to know when a certain day during the usually very busy holiday period will not be busy ahead of time. The Bush was busy everyday this past week. The resort won't really know if the day's SV forecast will be severly less until around 10AM. Nowadays the crowds do not start to show up until around 9:30. Even if they got out the word that black-out passes would be honored for the rest of the day, your opening a huge Pandora's Box situation for the resort for the few people that would be able to take advantage.
