While we're at it, let's shift threads with Mt Snow and Sundown to a "Who Cares" forum category.

I think we just need a Killington sub-forum to put all these threads in ...

These areas run by corporations want everyone to have purchased a pass...but I still think they would make a heck of a lot more with more creative pass schemes....than have a segment of the population that skis hardly at all when times are tough....and there are fewer alternative lift-served areas around....ie Maine.

I'm perfectly happy saving $600+ over a full pass with a midweek pass that's blacked out holiday weeks & every weekend. But that's because I'm lucky enough to be able to ski weekdays. I think I saved about $300 over the cost of a blackout pass. I was really pissed at myself for buying a blackout pass several years ago & only skiing one weekend day all season. That was an expensive days skiing.

I can understand people being upset that they're blacked out this weekend after the holiday week which is something they never did before for blackout pass holders. On the other hand they did add more floater days to the blackout pass this year.

You could pretty much say that for every resort. Everybody is currently charging premium price and most are not near 100% open.

But most are at/almost at 100% of their snowmaking terrain open. (and i'm going to duck and cover now that I brought that K topic up  )

yeah, first they make you think they are giving you a gift 2 floater days, then a year later they add on 2 more blackout days! Have many other resorts besides K added the 2 extra blackout days after pres week?

Wasn't happy about the price increase for the blackout pass this season, but fortunately the extra blackout days this week did not impact me. I don't ski holidays (don't consider this weekend a holiday). This weekend I'll just use my 2 floaters.

skied k yesterday. blackout pass holder who bought a day pass. best day of season for me. one complaint - holiday week charging prime rate $86 and the canyon chair isn't running. you're kidding ... very poor form. if you're not gonna run open all the key lifts, then maybe you shouldn't be charging your top rate and blacking people out.

I agree- paying full price during holiday week should give you access to all otherwise open terrain.
On the other hand, in future why not use it as an opportunity to explore another area that is fully open, like Sugarbush or Stowe?

Skiadikt is one of the most reasonale people on this board. IMO. I kind of take what he has to say at face value.

Also if you have a place on mountain that is where you ski. Not there and can't comment, but I give the souce some credit. Pretty sure he has had a non blacked out pass before.

Agreed, I get the Blackout pass and that's the way I look at it, perfect opportunity to check out other mountains.
