More misleading WMD claims

This was a gross misrepresentation of what the article said. Reading the article, I am stunned by your characterization of it.

The article addresses so called dual use materials which have dissappeared since the US invaded. It says nothing about WMD's having been there, and nothing about demonstrating that the materioals in question were used for illegitimate purposes. Nor does it indicate that the materials could have been used for illegitimate purposes at the time of the invasion.

It seems like a willingness to confuse evidence of dual use materials with actual WMD's is what got us into some of this mess in the first place.

From the article:
"He said the missing material can be used for legitimate purposes. “However, they can also be utilized for prohibited purposes if in a good state of repair.”

The preponderance of evidence leads me to believe that these were not 100% innocent production facilities.

Everyone else is lying... Saddam is telling the truth, right? I still believe in Occam's Razor.

You are shifting the discussion. I pointed out that you misinterepreted or misunderstood the evidence in that article... you switch to sarcasm about trusting Saddam and not believing other people.

Simply put, the UN did not say what you and whatever pundit you took the link from said it did. Plain and simple. It may hurt to own that. But the debate is more constructive if we identify, and acknowledge misinformation.

(Personally, it looks to me like Saddam didn't have any effective WMD program. The probable reasons are that he either couldn't or didn't think it was in his interests (not because he cared about human lives, international law, or morality). It also seems like he hoped to one day be able to build one.
Funny thing is that Bush rushed to war while Saddam was cooperating with inspections. Not because he is a good guy. I've beleived he was a dangerous creep back when Rumsfeld was buddying up to him and the US was giving him military intel on Iran).

the key words are "since the invasion." in other words, those materials went missing since the U.N. was forced to stop inspections and leave iraq by the U.S. essentially, those materials disappeared under the united states' watch. hmmmmmm....... no information is known regarding their location, the U.S. army might have lifted the materials. who knows. or, perhaps terrorists lifted the materials... terrorists that would never have obtained such materials while inspections were on going.

another item to consider is that these materials must have been legal under the inspections or else iraq would have been called out for possessing them. this announcement is completely 100% irrelevent to WMD, these were legally produced "materials" according to the article, that could have been utilized in a dangerous way. by default, we can assume they were not illegal if the U.N. knew about them before the invasion and didn't call iraq out. so these materials are NOT WMD and their disappearance, in my opinion, only points to the fact that inspections at the time of the invasion were working and the invasion itself lead to the disappearance of potentially dangerous materials.
