Burke. Followed by Bolton, 10e, and Magic.

Burke:
  • Founded as a ski area in 1955/1956. Bankrupt within two years.
Late 1950's through 1980's: Doug Kitchell, local man.
    1987-1989: Manchester NH developer
1989-1991: Operated by bank after foreclosure.
1991-1995: Bear Kingdom Ltd, German movie mogul who was money laundering using the mountain.
1995-2000: Northern Star Ltd. Multinational group that did a lot of good work.
Sept/Oct 2000: Bankrupt, owned by a scrap dealer for a month.
    2000-2005: Burke 2000 LLC (BMA).
    2005-Present: ???????? (Burke 2000 and Ginn).

So on average new owner every five years or so...bankrupt 3 times since I've been there.

Bolton:

  • DesLauriers: 1960's through 1996 or so.
Mark Dwinell: 1996-1998 (Bolt'n in Vermont)
1998-2000: Lays dormant. Closed one season.
    2000-2003: Peter Glenn and company.
    2003-Present: Bob Fries.

10e: Independent group from 1990's through 2001.
Closed 2002.
Reopens in 2003 and now under ownership of the "Japanese Snow Company."

Pine Ridge is right up there too.
Owners- Bill Morrow, ???, Bob Anderson,Gail Anderson, Mark and Marty O'Connor, White Turf Engineering, Jill O'Connor, Jim and Dale Caruso.

I know there was a brief owner either before or right after Bill Morrow.

Pine Ridge was closed for about 8 years between Gail Anderson and Mark and Marty O'Connor. It was also closed for a year or two between Jill O'Connor and Jim and Dale Caruso.

It has had a couple names too, Barre Ski Center, Pine Ridge Ski Area and now Pine Ridge Snow Park. I will try to get dates on ownership for you.

I think, but am not sure that the ??? owner might have actually been Mark and Marty O'Connor's dad.
