Resort: Mount Snow

Conditions: Temps in the 50's, mountain looked more late Spring than late December except no bumps

Report: Okay, I've had 2 straight days of spring hero snow, now mother nature can get back to normal. Snow all over the mountain was soft and fun to carve in. Natural snow trails(if still open) were melting out fast :( Thin spots were becoming evident :( Crowds were pretty much regular holiday levels, but manageable thanks to LOTS of lifts spinning.

ROTD for me, was Thanks Walt in the cloud/fog. Great soft snow, and just a fun trail to rip big high speed arcs on!

The folks associated with the Dew Tour have shown up. 3 snowcats from Snowpark Technologies arrived via flat bed trailers Friday AM and have roughed in Inferno with some absolutely ridiculously HUGE hits, and when I took a break on the deck @ Carinthia late AM, you could see that they, along with the the Mount Snow crew were planning out the construction of the 1/2 pipe(should be LOTS of activitiy on the 1/2 webcam the next few days).

Even though it was 20+ degrees away from snowmaking temps, the snowmaking crew was on the hill moving mini ratnik tower guns into the connectors from Deer Run to Thanks Walt. I'd bet that a MEGA snowmaking assault with a quick resurface and then expansion on tap by the time I head back up Wednesday afternoon.

Hey Jeff, what connectors would those be? The ones coming down from the summit or the one off the back side of the Sundance chair?

That would be off the summit via sunspot , since as of yet, there aren't any pipes off the top of sundance chair down into Sunbrook via shooting star.

Crazy weather. I watched the snow report go from 92% to 45% open in a matter of days.

I give Mt. Snow a lot of credit. They only open trails with edge to edge so you don't have to dodge bare spots.

I haven't been up there since mid Dec....hope to be up this weekend.

I will say that some of the natural snow trails that were open this weekend, weren't edge to edge, but then again that's what made them a bit more adventurous and fun. The natural's that they kept the ropes up on(after it got above freezing) most definately should have been ropes up. No gripes at all about how the mountain handled the last few days. Once mother nature decides that its Vermont in winter instead of Florida in winter, things will be good again, and quickly!

Gotta love December! Here's to hoping for more snow and colder temps in January.

I figured, but didn't know if they decided to stretch some hoses down the Shooting Star way... ha.
