Date Skied: 04/05/2009
Resort: Mount Snow
Conditions: Bluebird skies, clouds, breezy, cement type snow, heavy corn snow to spring snow
Trip Report:
Decided to ski Snow today due to the uncertainty of next Friday’s weather. Weather.com was calling for rain today at Snow changing to snow showers. I left Agawam, MA shortly before 10:30am and arrived at Carinthia for noon. It was 50 degrees when I left church this morning. By the time I reached Northampton, MA the northern sky looked dark and stormy. I did bring rain gear.
While driving up the temp went from 50 degrees to 35 degrees when I arrived at Carinthia. The top part of the main mountain was foggy. By 12:30pm it cleared, see first picture. I was told that this morning there was fresh snow and the wind blew it around.
I did see evidence of this on North Face. I believe TNF opened around noon or so. That fresh snow was as sticky as cement! The sides where it blew off was nice spring snow. As more skiers / boarders moved the cement around, it got absorbed into the spring snow and it became less sticky.
There were parts of the mountain that I found more of this sticky snow. It was a great day today and I hope it is not my last day of the season. Here are some pix:

From the summit (Upper Canyon):
The untouched bumps at TNF from the Outpost triple. After a few times on the lift there were tracks on it.
