Conditions: Hard pack in the morning, spring conditions in the afternoon.
Trip Report: I just got back from Mountain Creek, they have South and Bear peaks open this week, my guess is Sunday is the last day. That doesn't mean conditions were bad, they actually have a lot of snow left on South. I think if they pushed a lot of the terrain features down they could get another week barring another huge rain event. It's just that traditionally the third weekend in March is their closing weekend.
I got to the mountain at 10:30 this morning, it was 21 degrees at my house at 8 AM (which is 10 minutes from the mountain) so everything had the night to freeze. When I got there at 10:15 my car said 36 degrees so for the first hour and a half or so everything was hardpack, very fast snow and a lot of fun.
In the afternoon everything had softened up quite a bit and when I left at about 3 PM it was spring conditions with a temp of about 50 degrees. Very good base though, only a few thin spots and really no "brown holes" on the trails, the bottom near the lifts was getting slushy and brownish when I left.
The rain tonight and tomorrow morning shouldn't be too bad so I'm looking forward to skiing there on Thursday too.
