Hale was a good hike last Friday. The area did not receive too much over the weekend, so I think these conditions are a good indicator.
We hit some heavy ice and about 8 inch drifts after the second brook crossing. Used YakTrax the rest of the way to the summit. Gaiters were a good idea and we had ours. Hike went quicker than we anticipated, but it was a nice jaunt.
Zealand Road is still open. Below 3000 feet is actually still quite green. Really no snow to be scene.
