Trail Hiked: Mt.Tecumseh Trail

Total Distance: 5.0 mi

Difficulty: Easy

Conditions: Dry and sunny, nice day

Special Required Equipment: none

Trip Report:
I had some time to kill in the afternoon and I was in the area so I took a quick hike up Tecumseh. Left my car at 1:15 and started the hike. The trail was not much steeper than flat for the first mile or so and then steepened from the viewpoint to the top. I got to the top a little after 2:30 and had a snack then headed down. Got back to the car at about 3:30 after a nice afternoon hiking. I left my camera in the car so no pics.

Tecumseh is a good up and down hike. When I did in 2004, the ice/snow layer on the trail was treacherous....

IIRC the views from the top are decent, but nothing to lose your mind over. Two lookouts. The view from the top of the High Country Double is nicer.

Missed you by less tha 24 hours, I was on Tecumseh on Friday from 4:17 until 6:46. That section from the viewpoint to Sosman is tedious on a good day & worse when you want to get up & back.

I've been up that side three times, this was the first that I actually took the Mt. Tecumseh trail to the top from the top split from the Sosman trail. I doubt I'll take that section again.

Really? I found the Tecumseh Trail to have *much* better footing than the rock jumble that is the Sosman going around the backside of the summit.
