I talked my way in based on national ranking, so now I have to find a way to get there CHEAP. Any ideas??

dave pm me i did it fairly cheap. actually when you packet comes or the nastar linc it helps.

. i just did it right through the Steamboat reservation dept. you got to book flight early, but I could have done it for less.. flight was $270 something like 40 for round trip transportation I got like $80 a night right on the bus route walking distance to fairly cheap places to eat, but 8th st steak house was awesome.

congrats Dave

You should have raced at Okemo. I hear it only takes one run there. Right Skibum9995???

With all the busting that goes on between the AZ race team, don't you wish you were on it?

It doesn't matter to me because I have no plans of skiing Steamboat this season..and I'm not into racing the way I was two seasons ago..back then I logged almost 100 Nastar runs..

This is my fourth year at the Nationals and my second at Steamboat. Instead of flying to Denver and doing the 5 hour schlep in the overpriced rental car I'm flying directly into Hayden - 20 miles away. There's a roundtrip shuttle for about $47 to wherever you're staying and a free shuttle from the hotel to the mountain. Lodging is in short supply so move quickly if you plan on going. Super 8 and Rabbit Ears are reasonably priced.

One caveat about flying into Hayden - small fields may restrict the size of your luggage. I compete on skis and snowboard (add in two pair of boots) so I'm shipping my gear by UPS right to the hotel.

By all means make the trip if you can. It's an incredible experience.

I had no issue getting in or out of hayden. Easy ... I got a better deal through steamboat reservatiosn that I could on my own and they did all the work. book early is the key to local and rates.

For future reference, has anybody done this trip for a family of 4 or so?
What is the ball park price tag are we talking about? Around $5000?

I did 4 days for 1,000, but that was with fairly exspensive meals. You could put 4 in a room and eat cheaper. Based on $35 dollar lift tickets for the race. I think you could squeese it under $4000.

11 year old daughter qualified out of Bretton Woods. Can't go ($$$) unless I find people who know people who know people where we could stay for free for a few days!
