Any suggestions on the best way to break in new boots before skiing with them in agony?

Shouldn't really have to "break" boots in... Though to get comfortable in them, you could just wear them around the house as much as possible.

Break in the liners aka stretch the liners. I am not one that can wear boots of the shelf. They boiled the shells for me but the liners need to packed out a little bit.

Fill them with turkey gravy then put them on. lol. I coach HS lacrosse and the kids were talking about the best way to break in the pocket on their stick. One kid said to use shaving cream, another hair conditioner. I told them to use the gravy and they all bit on it. Very funny.

All I did with my new boots is wear them around the house. Besides getting me psyched to ski it made my wife laugh.

I am doing that but I was looking for some ways to make it fasterand avoid the pain. Shells are fine with old liners but new liners need stretching.

Not to be a wise-a$$, but do your boots really fit if you have to ski in agony?

As far as breaking in new boots, today's softer flexing boots don't need much break in time. The liners need to be packed-out a bit, but that's about all. A good day of skiing will take care of the liners. Otherwise, you could put your boots on and flex them while watching T.V. for a couple of hours.

If you have hot spots due to the shell not fitting you properly, your ski shop can heat the shells and blow them out a bit. I had to do that on my Salomon X-Waves a few years back. Pure agony for a couple of weeks until I got it right.

I bought a pair of Nordica Speedmachines this Spring and they fit perfectly right out of the box. Zero pain from the first run.

They are the widest boot available and I have the same boot but a couple of years older. Liner is starting to go. Old liner in new shell is fine. However new liner is tight. It needs to pack out. I was looking for suggestions on how to expedite this process before skiing in them. Also I can not wear them of the shelf because my foot is wide and ankle is wide.

Well - after you get the boots fit to your feet I would say wear them while watching tv for a few hours at a time in the fall.
I did that. Wasn't a big deal. Feet got hot boots just molded more.
Nothing beats skiing though to break in boots.

Put them under your pillow at night. :)

you need a different boot or some modifications by a boot fitter..........

Widest available boot off the shelf? There is always better with a little time and $$

Thermo-fit liners, perhaps? I was able to get on an elliptical machine for twenty minutes with my Adrenalines the day after I got them fit, and the only significant downside was that I ended up working a set of muscles that had been less-utilized all summer and I was sore afterwards.

Nope, hate to say it, but beer is the way to go. Then heat them up real good, put them on and wear. The heat and beer will help them conform to your feet.

So, do you fill the boots with beer or drink the beer. Either one should work fine for reducing foot pain.

Mmmm...stale beer and sweat. If you don't have a pickup buy a roof rack so you don't have to keep them inside the car on the way home.

Yes, Give them to a friend with the same size foot and tell him to go ski them for you. No other way to break in a boot unless you want to jump up and down in them and that looks really stupid. I put my boot on for hours watching tv. Did not do much of anything except make my feet hot.
