Today I went to MC for the first time this season and the new Red Tail Lodge is pretty nice. On the lower level is guest services, lockers, rentals, a ski shop, restrooms and a cafe which serves pastries and Starbucks coffee. Upstairs is the cafeteria, seating, an expensive sit down restaurant and what looks bar just outside the side doors. Apparently there is a third floor but I didn't go up there so I'm not sure what is up there.

It's a huge improvement over the old inflated bubble buildings and was very nice. It's actually higher than the the loading area of the Cabriolet gondola so I discovered that it makes sense to enter on the bottom level and boot up and then walk with your skis to the loading area of the gondola so you don't have to ski 200' and then take your skis off. The lodge also changed the layout of the beginner areas at the base of the mountain.

It also seems like they regraded the summit by the unloading area of the gondola so you don't have to pole or skate if you take a right off the gondola, that was actually a nice improvement. Now if they would only replace the Cabriolet gondola with a high speed quad or .six pack it would be much, much better.

I don't feel like doing a whole TR but the conditions were surprisingly good and not icy at all. They were blowing snow all over the mountain all day.

Looks nice and certainly an improvement over the bubbles. Only negative thing I've heard (cause your braver then me ERJ, I won't go there) is it might be too small for the crowds they get there.

Nice pics- almost makes me want to pay a visit. Who knows....

As I was driving home last weekend on Rt 17 in Ramsey I could see lil Campgaw- the front face finally was completely covered in white. Nice, it had looked so forlorn before that.

I won't go there on a weekend so I don't know if it will suffice.

I had a fantastic powder day at Campgaw when I lived in Midland Park.
